So much effort it would seem
To row, row, row, down a stream
I’ll just let the boat go instead
Using my oars to avoid the shores
Keeping myself centered there
But now and then, I’ll pick them up
And head for forests along the banks
To stop and smell the mossy mounds
Laying my soul in the cradle of soil
Keeping myself in safety there
Then of course I’ll strip my clothes
(Who really has any need of those?)
And join the stream, skin to water
Immersing my joy with tickly fishes
Keeping myself glistening there
Back to the boat, merrily now
Steering, laughing past the rocks
To breathe in the spray-washed air
Exhaling food for the bending trees
Keeping myself alive out there
For when I look behind
I see no trees and no water
Forward no rocks, no moss either
Just my boat, the stream, the banks
Keeping myself in the present-tense
I make the stream, the boat, you see
I create the moss and the trees
The stream moves ever on with me
In the everlasting Now
Keeping myself in the dream
I am real, love is real
All else but an illusion, so
Row merrily thy dream, my friend
And make the world thine own creation
